Alabama Stone Works Community Spotlight

Michael Wienecke
Hey, I’m Mike Weinecke, owner and operator of pesky pest control. And today we’re doing things a little bit different. We are a local family owned business in the Birmingham metro area and Josh Deaton, the sales associate for Alabama stone works. They are also a family local own business in the Birmingham metro area. So we just wanted to meet with him talk about his company, or talk about their company. And, you know, just see what how they do it and how they do it different and how they do it better. Josh, elaborate.

Josh Deaton
So first off, not my company. David Fuino, Trent Baron are the owners of Alabama stonework. They’ve been in the business they, over 20 years, they started out Emma Stone works back in 2008 in their carport. And they, you know, they’ve they’ve navigated through one of the worst recessions in the country. They’ve navigated through the worst pandemic we’ve seen since 1919. And they’ve grown exponentially through all of that. They put together a good team of people in this industry that come together that pull in the same direction and work well to make sure that your projects get done with as minimal headache as possible.

Michael Wienecke
Well, that’s great. Hey, that sounds great. Um, like I said, you know, I have personally used album stoneworks, myself, me and my wife, we updated our house, we got a brand new kitchen. Thanks to Josh. And Josh was quick prompt. I mean, he did everything on time, and we have a beautiful, beautiful quartz countertop. So kudos to Josh on that. Well, Josh, can you go in a little detail on the difference and kind of what makes you know, album stone works better? Sure.

Josh Deaton
So we, you know, ultimately, it’s the the small details, right, the devils in the details. So an example of that would be, we finish, you know, the top of your countertops, as well as the overhang section on the bottom of your countertops. So if you if you take your hand and rub it underneath the bottom, and it’s smooth, it’s, you know, it’s, it’s, it’s not necessarily something that you’re going to see every day. But when when you notice it, it goes a long way. It’s a lot better than reaching under there and fill in some rough mash or some unfinished, you know what I mean?

Michael Wienecke
Oh, yeah, yeah, it’s funny, because after you told me that, you know, I go in these houses, especially rental homes that have, you know, quartz or granite put on there, and I’ve rubbed my hand under there a few times, and you can you can definitely tell the difference between mine and some other ones that I’ve felt. So is there any warranty that comes with yours work? I mean, y’all do offer, you know, a year, you know, 10 years? I mean, what, what’s that looking like?

Josh Deaton
Yeah, so we do offer a warranty work. The stone itself has a manufacturer’s warranty as well. We actually had a very rare instance recently, where a customer had a su souffle, su suvey, or something like that Sue bead, Sue V. Sorry, I apologize. Yeah. That they had said it in the corner of a court and it got hot, and it opened up. But as soon as they removed it a few minutes later, it closed back. But because it was under the manufacturer that fell into the manufacturer’s warranty, we were able to, you know, get that particular section, removed refabricated and reinstalled in a timely manner.

Michael Wienecke
i That’s great, man. I know, warranty. And you know, just honoring your product. That’s very important, especially to you know, anybody buying something of, you know, that magnitude, I mean, you’re getting a full remodel of your bathroom, your kitchen, you know, you want it to be perfect, and you want it to be right. Why Jocelyn Scott, a little bit about the story of Alabama stone works where it started. I know you’ve told me and it’s very interesting. So let’s, let’s talk about that.

Josh Deaton
Yeah, so they Trent and David started the company in their carport back in 2008. They, they these guys really like to push the boundaries of this industry. And really, you know, try things that a lot of other people aren’t willing to try. We went from there to a small Butler building and then we’ve transou 2012 from 13 ish we, they moved into the building. We’re currently in downtown on Fifth Avenue South and it’s just it’s been an explosion here over the last few years. We’ve got a see five fabricators in the back and material handler saw saw operator we have four sales reps in the office we have two CAD and layout guys. So yeah, man. I mean, we’ve got a great team of people who’ve been in the industry a long time. And David and Trent did a great job of putting this team together. But like I said earlier, we just everybody pulls in the same direction in jump is willing to jump in, outside of of their day to day things to make sure things are getting done in a timely manner.

Michael Wienecke
Yeah, I mean, I saw that for myself. You know, when we when we were looking at Stone, you know, Josh was out there, not only selling the stone, but he was also fabricating the stone. So yeah, that that does go show go to show that y’all make the extra effort. I’m sorry, go to show that y’all do the extra mile and you know, do what’s right for your customers. Well, Josh, tell tell a little bit about the info that you know, anybody listen that may want a brand new kitchen brand new bathroom countertop? Where can they find you? And also, how far would y’all go out as far as to install these? Sure.

Josh Deaton
So if you’re, you know, have any questions regarding you know, new countertops for your project, you can reach me on my cell phone at 254821128. Or you can email me at JoshDeaton at Alabama stone works.com As far as how far we go out. I mean, we’ve we’ve done anything, you know, obviously local in the entire state of Alabama, but we’ve also gone as far out to Las Vegas. We’ve done things in Clemson, South Carolina. Currently we have a couple of projects going on one in Destin and one in Nashville. So obviously, there’s a lot of things that are a little bit more involved when it comes to those projects further out. But it’s something that we would definitely be willing to look at to see if it’s feasible for us to be able to help.

Michael Wienecke
Well, that’s awesome. Sounds like the sky’s the limit as far as distance goes. We’re gonna do well. Again, I’m Michael owner and operator of pesky pest control and like said we just wanted to showcase a local business, and y’all have a great day.
