how are you doing?
I’m great. Well, you know what, what we want to talk about today, you being the pest expert in Birmingham, Alabama, and Vestavia. And Hoover, you know, you’re the guy the go to guyto get rid of pest problems. And we’re going to be talking about all kinds of roaches that are problems in in that area of Alabama. You know, tell me, what are the problems that, that they cause? You know, what, why are they so bad? You know, we all know we don’t want roaches, everybody can get them. So what type of roaches are they? What kind of problems do they cause?
So the main roaches that we have in Birmingham, Alabama is smokey brown American cockroaches and German cockroaches, German cockroaches being one of the worst out of the three. The reason we don’t want roaches is they can spread disease, you know, they crawl to the trash, and then they crawl over your counter and in your cabinets. Just not something that you want to ever have to experience.
Well, what kind of diseases do they carry? I mean, are they carrying viruses and bacteria?
Yes, so they can carry salmonella, you know, from crawling across other trash and onto your counters and stuff like that?
Well, you know, I have a consider a relatively clean house. But I mean, I’ve still seen roaches in my clean home, how do they get in my house.
So the biggest thing is, if we have a heavy rainfall, you know that can I can kind of wash them in. If it’s too dry that can be coming in for water looking for harbored areas. One of the best ways to keep them out of your home is to trim your shrubs back about a foot away from your brick veneer or wood finish on your home. You want to make sure all your windows are cocked doors are sealed and try to keep everything as sealed tightly as you can in your home.
So they pretty much can get in any small space that’s unprotected, right?
That is correct.
Well, okay, so anybody can have roaches. We’ve got German roaches, brown roaches. And what was the other Roach, American? Okay, American roaches, and they all are problems. And when they reproduce, you know, how many roaches can one mother have.
So German Roach in a year can have about 480 babies. If it lives that long, typically they only live about three months, American cockroach can have about 100 babies, along with a smoky brown cockroach. So you’re looking at a pretty good offspring if they’re able to live as long as they do.
Well, you know, it just sounds like anybody can have roaches just cuz you see a roach doesn’t mean you’ve done anything wrong. What do you do it pesky to help people get rid of roaches when they find.
So on our initial we do a full detailed inspection we go through all cracks and crevices looking for harbored areas. We also treat all those cracks and crevices to reach the source of the problem. This does two things it reaches you know where the roaches at. And it also keeps the product away from your pets and your children.
